LobbyGuard Strengthens Security in Technology Demonstration Project Schools

North Carolina's Technology Association (NCTA) Newsletter May 2, 2005

In the wake of school shootings and Amber-alerts, school administrators across the United States are taking extra precautions to provide campus security for students and staff. Recently, Oak Lane Elementary School in Person County installed LobbyGuard, a visitor management system, as part of the 2004 Technology Demonstration Project. Cii Associates, an NCTA member company, has generously offered to donate the LobbyGuard software as part of their contribution to the NCTA Education Foundation grants.

LobbyGuard increases school safety by providing a secure check in and check out system for visitors. Each visitor signs in through an intuitive touchscreen kiosk and receives a badge, complete with name, date, and photo and is automatically added to the school visitor database for easy tracking. The system also allows administrators to ban unwanted guests from the building through a Red Flag alert system. The Red Flag alerts can be updated with national databases such as the national sex offender list, to prevent sex offenders from signing into school campuses.

Cii Associates, through the installation of the LobbyGuard product, is committed to providing campus security to the NCTA Education Foundation model schools. For more information on how your organization can contribute to the Technology Demonstration Projects, please contact Michelle Rothengast, Executive Director of the NCTA Education Foundation.
